The reserve, also in a malaria-free area, is characterized by large number of Tamboti trees which attract the scarce black rhino. These trees also host a wide variety of bird species thus making the area a birding paradise.
Visitors may enjoy a more exclusive wildlife experience than just driving through the busier southern section of Pilanesberg. Game drives take guests through the Black Rhino Reserve into the unexplored valley of the Pilanesberg before reaching the 200 km road network in Pilanesberg itself.
Apart from the Big 5, other special sightings include the Brown Hyaena, Eland, the scarce black rhino and a wide variety of bird species.
